My Experience with Electronic Cigarettes

I’ve been smoking nearly all my life. It’s not something I’m proud of. I’ve tried quitting several times, tried all the different options, and nothing worked. Before hearing about electronic cigarettes I thought that I was going to be smoking for the rest of my life.

I heard reports that electronic cigarettes were a good substitute for traditional cigarettes but I was skeptical. I failed to understand how anything that was powered by a battery and didn’t have a bit of tobacco or tar could possibly be any good. I couldn’t justify trying them out.

It’s likely that I would have gone the rest of my life without ever trying electronic cigs had I not started to read reports at http://www.e-cigarettesreviews.com/ about how people were able to use them to break their own smoking habits. The fact that these claims were backed up by some scientific studies convinced me that I had nothing to lose. Plus the cartomizers came in lots of fun flavors. I went online and purchased a starter kit.

I would like to say that I was able to give up nicotine easily, but that wasn’t the case at all. It took me some time to adjust to the electronic cigarette. I have heard reports from some people who say that they were able to make the switch without any effort, but I wasn’t one. I missed the smell of the cigarette smoke and the little ritual of lighting one up and tapping bits of ash from the end.

The good news is that, even though it took me a couple of weeks, I did eventually adapt and got used to the way that the electronic cigarettes worked and tasted. Once I made this step, I was able to focus my attention on giving up nicotine.

The process was made a little bit easier by the fact that I had already noticed my body responding positively to the electronic cigarettes. Coughing fits no longer woke me up in the middle of the night which meant I was finally able to give my body the correct amount of sleep, which in turn meant I wasn’t nearly so cranky and had more energy. I also noticed that breathing seemed a little easier and that I wasn’t getting the headaches that had plagued my adulthood.

I’d like to say that I was able to just give up nicotine, but I wasn’t that easy. One of the things I noticed was that when I started to use the vapor juice that had a lower level of nicotine, my body tried to compensate by telling me I needed to use the electronic cigarettes more frequently than I had before making the change. It generally took me two or three weeks to adjust.

I am pleased to report that right now I’m mostly nicotine free, though I do still have a few cartridges that contain some nicotine that I use on particularly stressful days. I have noticed that I don’t seem to need the nicotine nearly as much as I used to. Even though I’m not completely free of nicotine, I’m very pleased with the results and thrilled that I took a chance and tried electronic cigarettes.
